For some time now Portugal has been the understated chique of Vacation Holiday Accommodation in the Algarve ! and although many holiday visitors have heard of the airport Faro, its not that well known of where the airport actually is located !

The private pools usually found within the holiday resorts and private villa locations tend to be on the larger side as compared to Spain, and the number of top quality Golf Courses squeezed along the Algarve certainly gives Spain a run for its money too !  With the ocean providing a better  atmospheric condition throughout the year than Spain, the golfing tends to be enjoyed around the year to its full as the Algarve tends to have less rainfall during the year compared to places like Marbella Spain.

If its sailing that you are after… beware, firstly the coastal waters are not calm like the Mediteranean. . . as such, navigating the ocean is a totally different excercise and therefor carries a different set of requirements for renting sail boats or charters !

If you plan on taking a sailing course in Portugal . . then you will need to be able to speak Portugese as well as write it, as the ecxamination papers are in Portugese and the examiners refuse to speak any other language.

Without a Portugese Sailing Licence nobody will let you charter / hire a boat either !  so my advice is for all those sailors looking to try out the great sailing off the coast of the Algarve – better to go find a beautiful Apartment Rental in Tenerife or go USA and enjoy the oceans over there instead !

I was almost 25 minutes behind our planned meeting time, I had just used my iPhone to let my boyfriend know that I wasn’t going to be able to meet him for dinner for another 25 minutes . Luckily for me, he had just meet an old friend and was having a beer at the bar with them, so there was no rush , I tossed my iphone into the seat next to me and prepared to drive off. There are literally millions of adults today who took piano lessons when they were growing up, but at some point along the way gave them up. Some couldn’t care less, but many have an urge down deep to take up piano playing again someday.

Over the years I have never heard anyone say “I’m glad I never learned to play the piano”, but I have heard hundreds say something like “I sure wish I had paid attention when I was a kid”, or “My piano teacher was too strict (or too boring), but I would love to get back to the piano some day.”

2. The second factor is one that has always existed, but until recent times has not been articulated well so that the average person could understand the concept. And that is simply that there are 3 different ways to learn to play the piano, and adults can pick one of the three, two of the three, or all three in any combination, and come out with a synergy far better than any one method alone.

The 3 methods are:

1. Reading music from the printed score. Well over 95% of all piano lessons revolve around the ability to read a piece of sheet music, and the technical facility to make your fingers do what your mind tells them to do. This is the traditional method of piano lessons; scales, drills, finger exercises, and practice reading endless pieces from the very first “Left thumb, right thumb” piece to the most advanced classical piece such as Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” or Rachmaninoff’s “Prelude in C# minor”. And there are teachers online who can teach music reading. Search for them by typing in such phrases as “learn to read music” or “classical piano lessons online”.

2. Playing by ear. There are a very few individuals who can really play by ear, but they don’t need our help — they can play what they want any way they want. Playing by ear can be taught to some degree, but anyone who thinks they can end up playing like Ray Charles is kidding himself or herself. Still, normal individuals can learn to pick out a tune by ear and then match a chord to that melody, and eventually entertain themselves and others while having a ball.

3. Playing from chord symbols. Many professional pianists — especially jazz pianists — use fake books. Fake books are collections of songs in a lead sheet format, which means the melody of the song plus the chord symbols that go with the melody. To learn this form of playing you will need to learn chords — at least enough to play the songs you want to play — and you will need to learn to read the tune of the song in the treble clef — a skill much easier than learning to read masses of notes in both the treble and bass clefs.

Most people don’t even know that this form of playing exists, or if they do, they thing it is limited to pros. Not so. It is a straightforward process and produces good results after a relatively short period of time. In other words, you’ll be playing enough to enjoy yourself and maybe amaze your friends in a matter of weeks instead of years.

All of these methods are viable, and all can be learned from piano teachers online. But probably the best way of all is a synergy of the 3 ways: learn to read sheet music, develop your ear, and learn chords and how to use chord symbols to create your own styles of music.

Which ever method you pick is fine — just pick one and get going. A world of fun and satisfaction await!

Nice one, my dental plan finally kicked in!

It has been so long since I’ve been insured that I’ve unfortunately found myself suffering from quite a lot of dental pain. The big difficulty, of course, is first finding a dentist close to home. Basement waterproofing materials can vary significantly in their forms and their uses. The general public may be able to purchase some, while other will only be for professionals. Let’s assess the situation and see how we can apply it to your home.

The area in which you live is going to affect the amount of water around you. Materials that you can use will be influenced by the information you collect.

Simple sealants are the first materials for basement waterproofing that people are looking for. They did waterproofing at the basement already; however, some areas are moist so they need restoration. Another option may be to use a stitching materials. Metal staples are used to seal the cracks preventing or restricting movements. The cracks are then filled with any cement that doesn’t shrink.

Gunite (a form of concrete) can be sprayed on bigger cracks in basement walls or floors. You’ll need special spraying equipment to do this which you can hire. The resulting spray will fill cracks and leave a smooth finish, but you need to get the mixture ratio right. However it does stick to most surfaces so it’s a good option.

Ultimately, it must be remembered that basement waterproofing materials are not the final, only or the best solutions. You should also be looking at making sure there is as little water getting into the ground around the basement as possible.
